Presidency dismisses rumours of cabinet shuffle

The Presidency has dismissed media reports that Communications Minister Dina Pule could soon lose her job.

Presidency spokesperson Mac Maharaj said in a statement on Sunday night that the rumour and speculation was mischievous.

He said it will not distract government from the main activity this week - the State of the Nation Address by Zuma on Thursday evening.

The Sunday Times reported that Pule could lose her job following scandals involving her boyfriend, Phosane Mngqibisa.

It reported that talk within the ANC and government circles was that Pule will be sacked as part of a cabinet reshuffle.

Meanwhile President Jacob Zuma's state of the nation address on Thursday evening will be the first to be delivered in the context of the National Development Plan.

The presidency says during his address, the president will provide an update on all key government programmes, particularly the five priority areas.

These are education, health, creating decent work, the fight against crime; as well as rural development and land reform.
