A group of students are being investigated, after an incident during which a senior staff member of the North West University in Potchefstroom was injured, resulting in him receiving medical treatment.
According to the university's Louis Jacobs, the incident happened at the Hombré Men's Residence during the week..
First year students were allegedly involved in the scuffle with the 53-year-old staff member.
Jacobs says the man was on his way to his office and attempted to walk through a group of first-year students, who were standing in front of the building in which his office is located.
The staff member sustained an injury to the back, for which he received treatment.
Vice Chancellor, Dan Kgwadi says they have zero tolerance for aggressive behaviour on their campuses, and serious measures will be taken against all guilty individuals.
According to Kgwadi, the investigation is already at an advanced stage.
He says it is expected to be finalised soon, after all statements have been obtained and video footage examined.
