The South African Post Office said that recent upgrades to various branches were yielding results, with robberies foiled in the Eastern Cape and North West.
Sapo head of national security, Vossie Vos, said the security upgrades were done at high-risk branches first and were continuing to be implemented at their branches countrywide.
He said the foiled robberies occurred on 4 November.
Vos also said that six Post Office branches were robbed by armed criminals last week.
The robberies, five of which were in the Western Cape, occurred as SA Social Security grants were being disbursed to beneficiaries countrywide.
The sixth Post Office to be robbed last week was in Botshabelo in the Free State.
There were no reports of any arrests in these cases.
