A Post Office manager from Pietermaritzburg is expected to appear in the local Magistrates Court on Monday for allegedly stealing money from his branch last week.
The 55-year-old manager had two accomplices who are also in custody.
Police Spokesperson Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo says on Thursday last week, the branch manager left the post office locked, safe and secured.
When he arrived at work the following day he noticed that the strong room was opened and an undisclosed amount of money was stolen.
He reported a case of business robbery and the case was allocated to the Hawks.
Captain Mhlongo says on Saturday, the Hawks pounced on the manager’s house and found cash, suspected to have been stolen from the Post Office.
He says their investigation then led them to two other suspects, both aged 30, where more money was found.
The three men will be charged with business burglary.
