Possible link between contraceptive injection Depo-Provera and brain tumours

In an eye-opening investigation spanning two continents, Carte Blanche uncovers disturbing new evidence suggesting a possible link between long-term use of the widely available contraceptive injection Depo-Provera and the development of brain tumours known as sphenoid wing meningiomas.

Patients suffering from these invasive tumours have shared harrowing experiences of dizziness, seizures, blurry vision, and intense headaches.

Often growing undetected for years, meningiomas can cause severe damage to the brain and eyes, requiring complex, life-saving surgery.

A growing number of women who have endured these life-altering procedures have now discovered a common factor, decades of use of Depo-Provera, which contains the synthetic hormone medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA).

New scientific findings are prompting legal action against the manufacturers of the contraceptive injection. In South Africa, Richard Spoor Attorneys is preparing to lead a class-action lawsuit for affected women.

Meanwhile, the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) has responded to increasing pressure by warning the public of a possible risk of using Depo-Provera without regular monitoring and addressing a letter to all health professionals to note the latest medical findings.

To ensure the public is informed, Carte Blanche will be making the full investigative report available for a limited period on its official YouTube channel.

The full story will premiere on the Carte Blanche YouTube channel at 19:00 on Thursday, 3 April 2025, and will remain available until Friday, 4 April 2025, at 19:00.

This exclusive release aims to raise awareness of the potential health risks linked to the contraceptive injection and inform the public about the ongoing class-action lawsuit.

Viewers are encouraged to subscribe to the Carte Blanche YouTube channel to receive a reminder before the story goes live.
