The Justice Minister is looking at developing a policy to address hate crime in South Africa.
This was revealed by the Minister of Women, Children and people with disabilities, Lulu Xingwana.
She told a post cabinet briefing on Thursday that government's aware of the high incidence of violence against lesbians and gays.
"We also believe the abuse through corrective rape has actually come down in recent months because of the campaign that has been heightened by government, provinces and the NGO's themselves, including woman's organisations" Xingwana said.
