The ANC Youth League has nominated Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe as its preferred candidate to lead the ANC.
Youth League deputy president Ronald Lamola said in Pretoria on Thursday that the nomination was unopposed.
The nomination was made during the ANCYL's national nominations meeting.
It was held in preparation for the ANC's 53rd national conference in Mangaung in December.
The other top five positions in the NEC were also voted on at the meeting.
Lamola said the nominations were not an anti-President Jacob Zuma campaign and that the ANCYL would work with who ever was elected at Mangaung.
