A Gauteng policeman appeared in court for allegedly shooting his wife, also a police officer, on Valentine’s Day.
The National Prosecuting Authority said Sergeant Ngudumane Mahlalela was arrested on Tuesday after being on the run with his minor child.
NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane said it is alleged that Mahlalela shot his wife Jane at their home in Protea Glen in Soweto following an argument.
She said he fled, taking their child, and had been on the run until he handed himself over to officers at Moroka SAPS.
Mjonondwane said the child was found at a relative’s place.
The case against Mahlalela was postponed until a bail hearing next Wednesday.
