The police ministry has described the latest incident of alleged police brutality as "embarrassing" and "disgusting".
Ministry spokesperson, Zweli Mnisi, says the underlying cause of these incidents needs to be investigated.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate said on Thursday that a North West police officer had been arrested for allegedly assaulting a man in Setlopo Village in Mafikeng, and dragging him behind a police vehicle.
Mnisi says the issue of command and control at police stations needs to be looked at.
"We find these incidents very embarrassing to the entire department because while there are so many men in blue such incidents affect the image and credibility of the police. We are also pleased that the IPID has acted swiftly on the matter and that the suspect will e appearing in court on Friday" Mnisi said.
