Police arrested the 14th drug mule at OR Tambo International Airport in recent weeks after a 43-year-old man arrived on a flight from São Paulo in Brazil.
Spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Amanda van Wyk said a medical examination of the man from Paraguay confirmed that he had swallowed multiple foreign objects.
She said in a statement on Sunday that he had released 20 ‘bullets’ suspected to contain cocaine.
Van Wyk aid in the past week alone three people, including two Dutch nationals, were arrested at ORTIA for drug smuggling.
The two were arrested on separate days and were found in possession of 80 kilograms of the Khat.
“Every week in the last month, SAPS arrested at least one drug mule at OR TAMBO International Airport,” Van Wyk said.
