Pilot killed in Limpopo plane crash

A 54-year-old pilot was killed when his light aircraft crashed outside Lephalale in Limpopo Province on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said the light aircraft had taken off from a farm in the area en route to Gauteng when it crashed just after 6 am.

"The deceased was positively identified by the family as Koot Human Steyn, (54) from Melkbosh farm in the Tom Burke area outside Lephalale," he said.

The cause of the accident will be investigated by the Civil Aviation Authority.

The incident comes a day after a gardener and a pilot perished in Midrand when another light aircraft crashed into a house in Vorna Valley.
