Peanut butter brands recalled at PnP

Pick 'n Pay has recalled five Peanut butter brands, by removing them off the shelves, nationwide, immediately.

Following in-house standard testing, these products were found to have higher than regulated levels of Aflatoxin, which may constitute a health risk.

The group says any customers who might have bought these products are urged to return them for a full refund if the product has an expiry date between now and July 2025.

Customers are urged to please check their pantries and food cupboards to make sure to return the products concerned to any Pick n Pay store for a full refund.

Pick 'n Pay says they have already engaged with the National Consumer Commission(NCC) and the Department of Health.

Affected brands:

No Name Smooth Peanut Butter

Eden Smooth Peanut Butter

Eden Crunch Peanut Butter

No other peanut butter brand at Pick n Pay is involved in the recall.

Aflatoxin

Aflatoxins are a family of toxins produced by certain fungi that are found on crops such as maize, peanuts, cottonseed, and tree nuts, although it is a naturally occurring mycotoxin, the levels detected in Pick 'n Pay's peanut butter were higher than the regulatory threshold.
