A 29-year-old security officer has been shot and killed in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth.
Captain Andre Beetge says on-duty security officer Dumisa Tyendiso was shot and killed by three unknown suspects around 7pm on Thursday while sitting in his stationary marked security vehicle at a petrol station in Xabane street in Nu5, Motherwell.
Captain Beetge says Tyendiso was approached by three men with fire arms.
They opened fire on him and shot him several times in the legs and upper body - he passed away on the scene.
The suspects then robbed him of his .38 special revolver and his cellphone, after which they fled the scene in his security bakkie.
The vehicle was found abandoned about ten minutes later in Mlimane Street, NU6 and taken for further forensic analysis.
Police are searching for the suspects and anyone with information that could assist with the investigation is asked to contact their nearest police station.
