Port Elizabeth police have opened an inquest docket, following the death of a man in a fire which broke out in a flat in Cape Road, Central on Sunday.
Spokesperson, WO Alwin Labans says the 36-year old man died of smoke inhalation.
He says police arrested a second man in his 30's, who was also in the flat, for being in possession of drugs.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, and the investigation continues.
