Convicted murderer Oscar Pistorius will not be allowed to speak to the media when he is released on parole on Friday
The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) also says disclosing his transportation details and his time of release will pose a security threat to other inmates and stakeholders involved.
As part of his parole conditions, the 36-year-old former blade runner will not be allowed to drink alcohol or indulge in other prohibited substances
Department Spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo added that because parolees are not paraded for the media, Pistorius would also be restricted from conducting media interviews.
The former Paralympian is finally facing freedom, after spending half of his 13-year prison sentence for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day in 2013.
He will serve out the remainder of his sentence under correctional supervision and will have to attend anger management classes and attend a program on Gender-Based Violence.
Pistorius will be subjected to these conditions until 2029.
