Four specialists will evaluate murder-accused Oscar Pistorius from today when he is admitted as a day-patient for mental observation at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital.
He'll be evaluated for no more than 30-days according to an order handed down last week by judge Thokozile Masipa.
The evaluation will seek to determine whether the blade runner was criminally responsible when he shot and killed Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day last year.
It will also determine if Pistorius can appreciate the wrongfulness of his actions.
A large media contingent gathered outside the gates of Weskoppies where Pistorius presented himself shortly before 9 o'clock this morning.
