President Jacob Zuma's political adviser, Charles Nqakula, has been appointed high commissioner to Mozambique.
The presidency says he will vacate his current position at the end of June.
It also announced that its former spokesperson, Zizi Kodwa, had joined the Gauteng Film Commission as manager for communications and marketing on June 1.
Nqakula had held office as minister of defence and minister of safety and security. He previously led a "facilitation team" to Zimbabwe and was Zuma's special envoy to Sudan.
