The State will lodge an appeal against the conviction and sentence imposed on paralympian Oscar Pistorius.
This was announced on Monday by the National Prosecuting Authority.
Twenty-seven-year-old Pistorius was jailed for five years following his conviction on culpable homicide in the shooting death of his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.
NPA spokesperson, Nathi Mncube, says the appeal on conviction is based on the question of law.
He says the merits and the demerits of the NPA's argument will become evident when it files papers for leave to appeal.
