Transport Minister, Dipuo Peters, has condemned the torching of train coaches in Cape Town.
She said in a statement that 19 coaches, equaling almost two train sets were set alight on Sunday night.
The Minister says this translates to an operational loss of five train trips both at peak hour and off peak hour, meaning that approximately 9000 people will be inconvenienced as a result.
Meanwhile, a suspect is in custody and was reportedly found with three laptop computers which were stolen at the train depot, gloves, goggles, and a lighter.
He's alleged to have a history of criminal activity in this environment.
