The Asset Forfeiture Unit has obtained a Preservation of Property Order for a Mercedes Benz C300 Coupe belonging to KZN looting suspect, Mbuso Moloi.
The National Prosecuting Authority’s provincial spokesperson, Natasha Kara, said the AFU obtained the order on Friday in the Durban High Court.
She said Moloi currently faces charges of theft and public violence, relating to the looting of a Woolworths Store in the Glenwood area in July.
“The car, which was preserved on the basis that it is an instrumentality of the offences, has an estimated market value of about R507 000. The car will remain with the state until the court grants a forfeiture order,” Kara added.
She said the criminal matter against Moloi, who is out on bail of R5000, returns to court on 12 October.
