The Asset Forfeiture Unit seized property and luxury cars worth R5.9m from two Kwazulu Natal businessmen accused of tax fraud.
NPA spokesperson, Natasha Kara, said the AFU executed a court order on Friday which was granted earlier this month to seize the assets of Mlungisi Ndaba and Nicholas Mncube of Proz Consultants.
“The order relates to a criminal matter before the court, where the accused are charged with fraud and contravention of the Tax Administration Act No.28 of 2011,” Kara said.
“It is alleged that the accused made under-declarations and non-declaration when completing the company’s income tax and VAT returns.”
She said the items seized will be kept under curatorship pending the finalisation of the criminal proceedings, which were adjourned to 20 January 2021.
