The Department of Health in North West has ruled out the possibility that a 72-year-old man, who was admitted to the Potchefstroom Hospital with high fever on Wednesday, has Ebola.
Spokesperson, Tebogo Lekgethwane, says a health report shows that the man could not have been infected with the Ebola virus as he is from a local farming community and has not travelled to any African countries.
He says the man will receive further treatment at the Tshepong Hospital Complex in Klerksdorp which has been identified as a referral hospital for Ebola in North West, and offers sufficient quarantine facilities. Lekgethwane says the quarantine placed on the casualty ward last night as precautionary measure, has meanwhile been lifted.
