At least 19 people were killed when a truck carrying farm workers was hit by a train.
Netcare 911 says the accident happened at a level crossing near Hectorspruit in Mpumalanga.

"The truck had passed over the railway crossing when it was hit by the train forced impact saw the vehicle cleaved in two and it was flung from the railway line paramedics arrived on the scene to find the injured lying amongst the dead they called for extra resources from outside the area to deal with the mass casualty incident 24 injured will be treated and stabilised at the scene and transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals" Wicks said.
