Three people were confirmed dead and six others injured in a shooting incident on Monday at a residence located behind a police station near the Durban High Court.
The incident happened at about 11.30 am in the morning.
A spokesperson for Netcare 911 Shawn Herbst said two men and one woman was declared dead on the scene.
He said six other people were shot and injured and treated by advanced life support by paramedics on scene.
Another paramedic from Rescue Care, Garrith Jamieson described the scene as an 'absolute bloodbath'.
A total of nine people were shot and sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Police have meanwhile confirmed that one of the victims was an off duty metro police officer.
Police are still on the scene.
