The North Gauteng High court in Pretoria on Monday officially found self-confessed child rapist Nicholas Ninow guilty of two counts of rape, defeating the ends of justice and possession of an illegal substance.
He was found not guilty on assault charges.
Ninow raped the eight-year-old girl at the Dros restaurant's toilet last year September in Pretoria, Silverton.
The girl was seven years old at the time.
According to Ninow, 21, he raped the girl after she walked in on him while he was in the women’s bathroom using drugs.
But, during closing arguments on Friday, State prosecutor Dorah Ngobeni questioned Ninow’s explanation. She said that was not the version the girl had given to the court in her evidence in camera.
Judge Mokhine Mosopa rejected Ninow's version of events. He found that Ninow followed the witness into the bathroom to sexually assault her.
The matter was postponed to 16 - 17 October for a victim impact assessment to be done and for a probation report to be prepared.
