NFP expresses shock at KZN accident

The National Freedom Party has expressed shock at the deaths of 12 people in an accident involving a minibus taxi and a bakkie near Margate in KwaZulu-Natal.

NFP president Zanele Msibi says they have noted that most road accidents on the country's roads were caused by reckless driving and failure to adhere to road traffic regulations.

The two vehicles collided head-on on the R61 on Wednesday night.

Nine people died at the scene of the crash and three others died later in hospital.

On Tuesday, the Road Traffic Management Corporation reported that 1-thousand 184 people had died in 987 road accidents nation-wide from December 1 to 30.

Most of the fatalities were in KwaZulu-Natal.
