The National Treasury says the country's 278 municipalities are expected to generate aggregate revenue of about R264b in the 2012/2013 financial year.
Treasury says municipal revenue is also expected to increase to R284b in the next fiscal year and up to R311b in 2014/2015.
Treasury published the operating and capital budgets on Monday of all municipalities as adopted by their respective councils.
The budgets provide an overview of expected revenue and expenditure trends in local government over the next 3 years.
