A Mpumalanga mother appeared in court on Monday for allegedly murdering her young children.
Twenty-four-year-old Zinhle Maditla, appeared in the Witbank Magistrate's court where she has been charged with four counts of murder.
Maditla handed herself over to police on 30 December shortly after the decomposed bodies of two girls (aged four and eight), and two boys (aged seven years and 11 months) were found in her rented room in Klarinet.
Her landlord, Matilda Mahlangu, told African News Agency (ANA) in an earlier interview that she and her other tenants broke open the door to the room after they got a bad stench in the yard and saw flies between the curtains and windows.
Maditla was remanded in custody to 14 January for a formal bail application.
