Mixed reaction to 2013 matric exam results

There has been mixed reaction to the 2013 matric exam results.

The official opposition said it has serious questions about the credibility of the results.

DA MP, Annette Lovemore, says using the pass rate as the main yardstick to assess performance is simply not a credible measure of the quality of education.

The Freedom Front Plus also said that the results raised serious questions about the quality of the exams

The ANC said the success of the Class of 2013 is an affirmation of the positive results yielded by its transformative and decisive interventions in education.

Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga announced on Monday that the overall matric pass rate had increased from 73.9 percent in 2012 to 78.2 percent last year.
