Six people are due to appear in court on Friday on charges of human trafficking and kidnapping.
They were arrested in Mayfair, Johannesburg this week by members of a multi-disciplinary team made up of various units within the police and private security officers.
Spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, said two Indian women, aged 20 and 24, were “rescued”.
“These women were allegedly enticed to the country with false promises of employment. Where upon arrival they were kept against their will and offered to clients leading to sexual encounters,” she said.
Mathe said numerous cell phones, cash, and documents including passports were seized.
She said the six face charges of human trafficking, sex trafficking, kidnapping, and extortion.
Police investigations are ongoing.
