Men busted for operating gold processing refinery

Two men are expected to appear in the Randfontein Magistrates Court in Gauteng on Friday for illegally operating a gold processing refinery.
The suspects, aged 21 and 42, will also be charged for contravening the Precious Metal Act.
 
Hawks spokesperson Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu says an intelligence-driven operation was conducted at Hillside in the Randfontein area in conjunction with Sibanye Stillwater Operations.
 
Members pounced on the property and found 50 tons of gold-bearing material worth approximately R2 million as well as electronic gadgets.
