Media restrictions outside Madiba's home

The growing media contingent outside former president Nelson Mandela's Johannesburg home is being instructed to keep well away from the house's entry points.

An unidentified official said the media must stay 50 meters away from entrances and have been confined to an area opposite the house.

Mandela's Houghton home is a national key point and is under constant surveillance.

The presidency said Mandela had been discharged from hospital on Sunday.

A large media contingent immediately gathered outside his Houghton Home to watch his return and the watchful eye of the police.

Presidency spokesman Mac Maharaj said Mandela's condition remained critical and "at times unstable".

The elder statesman was admitted to the Medi-Clinic Heart Hospital in Pretoria on the 8th of June this year with a recurring lung infection.
