McDonald's staff members killed during robbery at petrol station


McDonald’s South Africa have confirmed that two of its staff were killed after a transport vehicle in which its Kuilsriver crew were travelling came under fire on Monday morning.

“Tragically two of our crew were fatally injured and five others sustained serious injuries,” the fastfood chain said in a statement.

“Support is being provided to those involved in the incident, the families of the victims and the staff in the restaurant, trauma counselling will take place.”

Police were unable to provide much detail, but confirmed that four people died following a robbery at a petrol station in Kuilsriver.

All police was prepared to say was: “Two subsequent incidents occurred during which four people were killed and three were injured.

“These incidents are now subject to an IPID (Independent Police Investigative Directorate) investigation and this office will not be elaborating on the detail at this stage.”
