SA National Parks says retired but highly rated major general Johan Jooste will oversee the overall anti-poaching operations in Kruger National Park.
Sansparks CEO, David Mabunda, the appointment of 60-year-old Jooste completes the foundation phase of the multi-pronged strategy against rhino poaching.
He also announced that a cash reward of R100 000 will be paid to members of the public who provide information leading to the successful arrest of a suspected poacher.
Mabunda adds that a million rand bonus is on offer for a successful conviction of a poaching syndicate mastermind.
