Ten suspects have been arrested following a drug bust on a fishing vessel off the Saldanha coast on Monday.
An intelligence-driven, evening operation saw various tactical forces descending on the vessel where 973 blocks of compressed cocaine were seized.
The drugs, which were found in three compartments of the vessel, have a street value of R583 million.
Six of the suspects are from Myanmar while four others are of Bulgarian descent.
The will appear in the Vredenburg Magistrates Court soon.
Detectives from the Western Cape Organised Crime Narcotics Unit will now investigate the origin and the intended destination of the consignment.
