Police in Gauteng have launched a manhunt for two trial-awaiting prisoners who managed to escape from the South Gauteng High Court on Wednesday afternoon.
Police Spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo says both suspects were arrested for several murders and are considered dangerous.
The 31-year-old Mongezi Mcunukelwa was arrested for two counts of murder committed in Katlehong in 2017 whilst the 25-year-old Sbonelo Thwala was supposed to appear on two counts of murder committed in Jeppe in April this year.
A team of senior detectives has been appointed to trace the suspects and investigate the circumstances surrounding the escape.
Police have urged members of the public not to attempt to apprehend the suspects but rather contact the police.
