Man sentenced for assaulting two year old

 The Western Cape High Court has sentenced a man to 15 years in prison for assaulting a two-year-old boy and forcing him to eat his own faeces.

Police spokesperson, Captain Bernadine Steyn says 28-year old Bennet Hakkies, was sentenced this week after being found guilty of attempted murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was arrested in May by the Beaufort West Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.
