A 41-year-old man was shot dead in front of his family during an attempted hijacking in Glen Marais on the East Rand.
Gauteng police spokesperson, Captain Jethro Mtshali says Wimpie Gadney was shot in the chest and died on arrival in hospital.
He says three suspects entered their yard shortly after the family arrived on Tuesday afternoon.
Mtshali says Gadney was in the house when he heard his wife screaming and went to investigate.
A scuffle ensued between him and the suspects and he was shot.
His two young daughters were in the car with their mother when the suspects arrived.
The three men fled the scene, and no arrests have been made.
