An elderly man sustained serious injury after his vehicle smashed through the barriers and landed on the beach at Umdloti in Kwazulu Natal.
Details to the cause of the accident are not clear, but the vehicle came to rest in the shore break after smashing through the barriers.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the driver of the vehicle to have sustained serious injuries. After he was treated on scene they transported him to the Netcare Umhlanga hospital for the care that he required.
