A 28-year-old man is in police custody in Bloemfontein after police discovered a drill hand-grenade in his luggage.
The suspect arrived at the Bram Fischer International Airport on Monday where his luggage was scanned at the check-in counter.
During the scanning process, the grenade was discovered and the Bomb disposal Unit was summoned to the scene to handle the evidence and sweep the building.
During this time a flight had to be diverted back to Johannesburg.
According to the Airport, the Bomb squad analysed the explosive and determined that it was a dummy grenade.
The building was declared safe and operations continued as normal.
