Man found in possession of endangered species, behind bars

Northern Cape police arrested a man his fifties who was found in possession of nine baby tortoises, lizard skin and Springbok horns.

He was arrested at a hitchhiking spot on the N14 in Kuruman after being searched and later questioned.

Police said he told them that he was on his way to Lesotho.

The suspect will appear in court on Monday on a charge of "being in possession of endangered species."
