Police in Thabong near Welkom in the Free State arrested a woman who will be charged with murder after her boyfriend died in an alleged domestic dispute.
Spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele says the victim was allegedly assaulted by his girlfriend on Sunday morning when he fell to the ground.
The woman realised her boyfriend was unconscious and she tried to wake him up.
Brigadier Makhele says she poured a bucket of water over him but her attempt was in vain.
When emergency personnel arrived on the scene they declared the man deceased.
The woman was charged with murder and will appear in court soon.
The name of the victim was not released by SAPS.
