A man from the East Rand has been granted bail of R2 000 following his arrest for manufacturing dagga without a permit.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Lloyd Ramovha says police received a tip-off about an individual involved in a significant dagga dealing operation in the Croydon area on the East Rand.
He says 39-year-old Hugh Herbst consented to his premises being searched when police arrived at his home on Tuesday.
The search uncovered a fully equipped hydroponic laboratory, multiple dagga plants, dry and processed syringes, small scales, and zip-lock bags.
Lieutenant-Colonel Ramovha says Herbst admitted to not possessing a permit and was taken into custody.
He says the confiscated goods are valued at just over R150 000.
Herbst appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrates Court this week, and the matter was postponed until the 5th of March 2025 for further investigation.
