A man has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in the Port Shepstone Regional court for human trafficking.
Veeran Palan was jailed on Friday while a prostitute, Edwina Norris, was given a six-year sentence for her role in the crime.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Natasha Ramkisoon-Kara, said Norris had lured two women from Cape Town to work as prostitutes on the KwaZulu-Natal coast.
She said Palan was sentenced to 10 years for each of the two human trafficking charges, a year for each of two counts of kidnapping, a year for keeping a brothel and one year for each of the charges of procuring a female for sexual exploitation.
The charges are to run concurrently.
