The Limpopo man accused of defacing 'The Spear' painting has reportedly been fired.

His now-former employer, Mphaphi Machipi, is quoted as saying Louis Mabokela was on sick leave when he defaced the painting.

Twenty-five-year-old Mabokela worked as a taxi driver in Limpopo.

Machipi says he was surprised to see Mabokela on television defacing the painting of President Jacob Zuma in Johannesburg, while he had told his boss that he was not feeling well.
