Hawks officials are on the manhunt for those responsible for a cocaine cache shipped from South America to Durban.
Bricks of the drug with a staggering street value of R240 million were discovered on an MSC ship at the harbour.
The crime-fighting unit received a tip-off last week and swooped on the vessel, which had sailed in from Brazil.
Spokesperson, Nomthandazo Mbambo says the cocaine was hidden in containers carrying wooden floorboards.
She says the drugs weighed 600kilograms.
The National Head of the Hawks' Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya said he was pleased with the seizure stating that the cargo was now safely in their hands.
Mbambo says the investigation into the break-in at the Hawks offices in Port Shepstone early last month is still ongoing.
The break-in is alleged to have happened between the 5th and 8th of November when unknown suspects gained entry into the building by forcing open the windows.
The Hawks' offices were ransacked and 541kg of cocaine worth R200 000 were stolen.
