Several major construction companies have made 400 admissions of guilt with respect to collusion and price fixing.
That's according to Public Enterprises Minister, Ebrahim Patel, in an address to a construction conference in Midrand yesterday.
Patel says his department is trying to make it difficult for companies to be involved in collusion and price fixing.
"We are now discussing settlement arrangements for this breach of law and the improper enrichment at the expense of the public purse. It is huge and pervasive in the infrastructure space and business leaders have endorsed the concept of an integrity pact that companies CEO's sign to commit to competitive and un-corrupt practices in public contracts" he said.
