Former president Nelson Mandela has been re-admitted to an undisclosed hospital.
The presidency said today that he was hospitalised on Wednesday night due to a recurrence of a lung infection.
Presidential spokesperson, Mac Maharaj, says doctors are attending to him, ensuring that he has the best possible expert medical treatment and comfort.
He has appealed to South Africans to pray for Madiba while also appealing for understanding and privacy for the family and for doctors to do their work.
Earlier this month, Mandela was admitted to a Pretoria hospital for a scheduled check-up. He was discharged the following day.
In December, Mandela underwent an operation to remove gallstones and to treat the recurring lung infection.
Madiba also spent time in hospital in January and February.
