The Limpopo High Court has sentenced a 47-year-old woman to 25 years imprisonment for the contract killing of her husband in 2022.
The National Prosecuting Authority says Kedibone Nyathi, pleaded guilty to killing her husband Sandy in December that year in the Enable village in the Mopani district.
NPA regional spokesperson, Mashudu Malabi Dzhangi, said her three co-accused entered into a plea and sentence agreement with the state and were due to testify against the accused.
One of the three suspects was jailed for an effective ten years, while the other two were each given eight-year jail sentences.
Malabi-Dzhangi said Nyathi did an “about turn” and negotiated a plea and sentence agreement with the state.
She said Nyathi confessed to contracting the three co-accused to kill her husband for R15 000.
The NPA welcomed the sentence.
