A 50-year-old Limpopo prosecutor has been convicted of corruption after he demanded a R6 000 bribe to make a case "disappear".
The National Prosecuting Authority said Leonard Ratshilumela asked for a bribe from the mother of a minor accused of reckless and negligent driving charges in 2020.
He was arrested during a sting operation in Thohoyandou.
Limpopo Hawks spokesperson Matimba Maluleke said Ratshilumela's legal troubles are not over yet.
"While on bail for the bribery case, Ratshilumela was re-arrested after allegedly trying to kill witnesses," Maluleke said.
He was convicted on Monday by the Thohoyandou Magistrate's Court on the corruption matter and will be sentenced on 21 November.
